It started with a headphone that lied.

In 2022, one of us bought a “certified refurbished” headphone online. It arrived with a cracked internal driver, a battery at just 40% health, and no accessories — from a seller with a 4-star rating and thousands of reviews. The reviews looked glowing. The product was junk.

That is the moment NewAsNew was born — from one uncomfortable question: what would a certified gadget store look like if it were actually honest?

Built on real retail, not just a website.

We were not new to this. Back in 2020, Atul Pandey started The Next G — physical electronics and mobile stores in Prayagraj, serving customers face to face. Four years of real retail taught us one thing: people do not come back for the lowest price. They come back when what arrived is exactly what was promised.

Then we did the slow part. For two years — while those stores were still open and running — we researched this category properly: where refurbished stock actually comes from, how grading gets inflated, which faults surface months after the sale, and what a quality check has to test to catch them. That research is what became our 50-point check. It is also why we did not rush online in 2022 with a logo and a promise we could not yet keep.

So when the refurbished market kept cheating buyers with inflated grading and fake reviews, we built the opposite. In 2024, that became NextG Serve Pvt. Ltd. in Delhi, and NewAsNew — our online home for certified refurbished and unboxed electronics — went live.

The two people behind it.

Atul Pandey — a design and UX mind who obsesses over how people actually feel using a product: “poor-quality units get listed as like-new, and the customer is left dissatisfied. That is the gap we close.”

Ayush Mishra — a Master’s in Psychology who studies customer trust: “real satisfaction is not the discount. It is the quiet confidence that what arrived is exactly what was promised.”

Radical honesty, in practice.

We grade honestly. We show the real tested battery health on our laptops. We do not buy followers or fake a single review. And we reject far more than we sell — in a typical month only 2 to 3 in every 10 gadgets pass our 50-point quality check — the exact figure moves with the stock we are offered, so we publish the range rather than one flattering number. As we say: not every product deserves to be sold.
