Short answer: In Indian festive sales, the genuine discounts cluster in fast-moving categories with high margins and heavy competition — budget phones, TVs, small appliances, entry earbuds. Business laptops, current-generation flagships and premium audio move far less, and are often discounted through bank cashback rather than on the price itself. Flipkart Big Billion Days 2026 is widely expected in the last week of September, with Diwali on 8 November making this an unusually long festive run. We do not run a sale, and this article explains why that is a position rather than a limitation.

Prices are live as of 6 September 2026 and move with stock — check the linked product page for the current figure before you decide.

The 2026 festive calendar, and why it is unusual

This year the Hindu calendar includes an extra month, which pushes the whole festive season roughly three weeks later than usual.

Event 2026 date
Flipkart Big Billion Days Expected last week of September (not officially confirmed at time of writing)
Amazon Great Indian Festival Same window; Amazon confirms closer to the date
Navratri Mid-October
Dussehra 20 October
Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) 8 November

The practical consequence: there is an unusually long gap between the platform sales in late September and Diwali in early November. Anything you buy in the September sale you will own for six weeks before the festival it was supposedly bought for. That gap is worth knowing about, because it gives you time to compare rather than rush.

Where sale discounts are real

  • Budget and mid-range Android phones. The most competitive category in India, and genuine price cuts do appear.
  • Televisions. High margins, heavy competition, real reductions.
  • Small appliances. Mixers, air fryers, vacuum cleaners. Frequently genuine.
  • Entry-level earbuds and speakers. Volume products with room to move.
  • Last-generation stock a platform wants cleared. This is where the actual bargains live, in every category.

Where they usually are not

  • Current flagship phones. Apple and Samsung control pricing tightly. What you normally see is bank cashback, exchange bonus or an EMI offer, not a lower price.
  • Business laptops. Dell Latitude, HP EliteBook and Lenovo ThinkPad lines are not consumer sale products. They move little.
  • Premium audio. Sony, Bose and Sennheiser flagship models discount modestly and predictably.
  • Anything in genuine short supply. Which in 2026 includes a lot, because memory and storage shortages have tightened the whole PC market.

How to tell a real discount from a decorated one

  1. Check the price history, not the strike-through. Browser extensions and price-tracking sites show what a product actually sold for over the past year. A “60% off” on a price the item has never sold at is not a discount.
  2. Read the bank offer conditions. “Rs 5,000 instant discount” often means a specific card, a minimum spend and a maximum cashback that is much smaller than the headline.
  3. Separate exchange value from price. An inflated exchange bonus is a discount you only receive if you surrender a device that may be worth more sold separately.
  4. Check the exact variant. Sale listings often push a lower-RAM or lower-storage configuration than the one being reviewed. In 2026, with memory prices high, this is more common than usual.
  5. Check the seller and the warranty. Marketplace listings vary enormously in who is actually shipping and who honours the warranty.

Why we do not run a festive sale

Because we cannot run one honestly at our scale, and pretending otherwise would undo the only thing that makes this shop worth trusting.

Our pricing is set by what a unit costs us and what condition it arrives in. We do not raise prices in September to discount them in October. Only 2 to 3 out of every 10 devices that reach our QC bench pass; the other 7 to 8 go back to the supplier. The exact figure moves month to month with the stock we are offered, so we publish the range rather than one flattering number. A shop that rejects that much stock does not have the volume to fund a headline discount, and we would rather say that plainly than invent a sale.

What we do have is a live price on every product page, all year. That is the whole offer.

Who should buy in the sale, and who should not

  • Buy in the sale if you want a television, a budget Android phone, an appliance or entry-level audio. These are the categories where the discounts are real.
  • Do not wait for the sale if you need a work laptop now. Business laptop pricing barely moves, and with memory costs rising through 2026 the direction of travel is upward, not downward.
  • Do not buy on EMI for something you had not planned to buy. The most expensive purchase in any Indian festive season is the one the sale created rather than satisfied.
  • Do not buy an unchecked refurbished device because the price looks better than ours. This is the season for that, and it is also the season we see the results of it.

Frequently asked questions

When is Flipkart Big Billion Days 2026?

It has not been officially confirmed at the time of writing. It is widely expected in the last week of September or the first week of October, consistent with the pattern of landing a few weeks before Diwali, which falls on 8 November 2026.

Are laptop prices actually lower during Big Billion Days?

Consumer laptops see some real reductions. Business-series laptops, which is what most refurbished stock is, barely move because they are not consumer sale products. In 2026, memory and storage shortages have pushed new laptop pricing up rather than down.

Does NewAsNew run a festive sale?

No. Our prices are set by unit cost and condition and are live on every product page year-round. We do not raise prices before a sale in order to discount them during it.

Is a sale a good time to buy a refurbished phone?

The weeks after an Apple launch are a good buying window because supply improves. They are also when the largest volume of unchecked stock enters the market. Buy from somewhere that publishes battery health as a number and issues a GST invoice.

What is the biggest festive-season mistake in India?

Buying on EMI something you had not intended to buy, because the discount made it feel free. The second is buying a lower-specification variant than the one you researched.

Should I wait until Diwali instead of the September sale?

For most electronics the September platform sales are the deeper discount window; Diwali week is more about gifting and offers on bank cards. With six weeks between them this year, you have time to compare.
