Short answer: Buy the Grade A Certified iPhone 15 Pro at ₹72,990 unless you specifically want the longer telephoto reach or the bigger battery. The iPhone 15 Pro Max at ₹79,990 costs ₹7,000 more and the only meaningful difference is its 5x tetraprism telephoto camera against the Pro’s 3x, plus a larger battery and a 6.7-inch screen you cannot use one-handed. Chip, titanium frame, Action Button and USB-C are identical on both.

Start here: should you be spending ₹73,000 on a used phone at all?
We sell both of these and we would still rather you read this section than skip it. At ₹72,990 and ₹79,990, these are the two most expensive phones in our catalogue, and there are two honest alternatives you should rule out before you buy either.
The first is our own iPhone 13 Pro Max at ₹49,490. It has a 6.7-inch 120Hz ProMotion display, a 3x telephoto lens and the same broad photographic capability in ordinary light. It costs ₹30,500 less than the 15 Pro Max. For a great many buyers that is the correct purchase and the extra money buys nothing they will use.
The second is a brand new mid-range phone. At ₹73,000 you could buy a current-generation Android flagship or two solid mid-range phones, both with fresh batteries and full manufacturer warranties. A used iPhone 15 Pro carries a battery that has already been through charge cycles, and our 6-month NewAsNew Assured warranty rather than Apple’s. That is a real trade-off, not a technicality.
If you have considered both and still want a 15 Pro, the rest of this article is for you.
iPhone 15 Pro vs 15 Pro Max: what is actually different
| iPhone 15 Pro (Grade A Certified) | iPhone 15 Pro Max (Grade A Certified) | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | ₹72,990 | ₹79,990 |
| Screen | 6.1" ProMotion 120Hz | 6.7" ProMotion 120Hz |
| Chip | A17 Pro | A17 Pro |
| Frame | Grade 5 titanium | Grade 5 titanium |
| Main camera | 48MP | 48MP |
| Telephoto | 3x optical | 5x tetraprism optical |
| Action Button | Yes | Yes |
| Port | USB-C | USB-C |
| Battery | Smaller | Notably larger |
| One-handed use | Comfortable | Not really |
| Warranty | 6-month NewAsNew Assured | 6-month NewAsNew Assured |
That is the whole list. Two phones separated by ₹7,000, and the differences fit in three rows: telephoto reach, battery size, and physical size. Everything that people usually argue about — the chip, the build material, the port, the camera sensor, the display technology — is the same.
The 5x telephoto is the only feature worth ₹7,000
Apple built a folded tetraprism lens for the Pro Max that bounces light inside the camera module to achieve 5x optical zoom in a phone-thin body. The Pro gets a conventional 3x. This is not a marketing distinction: 5x optical reach genuinely changes what photographs are possible. School events from the back of a hall, wildlife, cricket from the stands, architecture details, candid street photography where you cannot walk closer — these all work on 5x and do not on 3x.
The reverse is also true and less often said. At 3x you get better portraits of people at a normal conversational distance, because 5x forces you to stand too far back for an indoor room. If most of your photographs are of family members in your own home, the Pro’s 3x is the more useful lens, not a compromise.
So the question is not “which lens is better”. It is: do you regularly photograph things you cannot walk towards? If yes, pay the ₹7,000. If no, do not.
Battery: the second real difference
The Pro Max has a physically larger battery and it lasts longer. On new phones that gap is straightforward. On refurbished phones there is a wrinkle worth understanding: a Pro Max at 88% health may still deliver more real hours than a Pro at 92%, because it started with more capacity. Percentage figures are relative to each phone’s own original capacity, not to each other.
We state a measured battery health band on every listing and never claim 100% on a used device. At this price point, ask us for the figure on the exact unit before you order — our guide to what refurbished iPhone battery health is acceptable explains how to read those numbers properly.
Size, weight and the thing nobody mentions
The Pro Max is a two-handed phone. Reaching the top-left corner with your thumb is not happening, it does not sit comfortably in a kurta pocket or a jeans pocket while riding, and after several hours of reading it makes itself felt in the wrist. The titanium frame made both phones lighter than the steel-framed 14 Pro generation, but a 6.7-inch phone is still a 6.7-inch phone.
The 6.1-inch Pro is one of the better-balanced large phones Apple has made. If you commute on a metro holding a handrail, if you use your phone while walking, or if you simply have smaller hands, the Pro is the better device regardless of what the camera specification says.
What both phones share, and why it matters at this price
- A17 Pro chip. Hardware ray tracing, six-core GPU, and enough headroom that neither phone will feel slow for years.
- Grade 5 titanium frame. Lighter than the stainless steel of the previous Pro generation, with a brushed finish that hides handling marks well — which is relevant on a restored device.
- USB-C. The same cable as your MacBook, your iPad and most Android devices. On a used phone this quietly extends its useful life, because Lightning accessories are steadily disappearing from Indian shops.
- Action Button. The mute switch replaced by a configurable button — most people set it to camera or torch.
- 48MP main camera and ProMotion 120Hz. Identical on both.
Who should buy something else entirely
- You want the most phone per rupee. The iPhone 13 Pro Max at ₹49,490 gives you 6.7 inches, ProMotion and a 3x telephoto for ₹30,500 less. See our best refurbished iPhones under ₹50,000 guide.
- You want a fresh battery and full brand cover. Buy new. A used ₹73,000 phone still has a used battery, and batteries are excluded from every warranty including Apple’s.
- You do not photograph much. If the camera is not the reason you are here, the iPhone 15 at ₹47,490 has the same 48MP main sensor, USB-C and Dynamic Island for ₹25,500 less than the 15 Pro.
- You are buying for status rather than use. We would rather say this plainly than take the order. A ₹34,990 iPhone 14 does everything most people need a phone to do.
Buying a ₹73,000 refurbished phone without getting cheated
At this price, verification is not optional. Both units are Grade A Certified: professionally restored, passed through our 50-point quality check, sold with a stated battery health band, a 6-month NewAsNew Assured warranty, a GST invoice in your name, 7-day returns and card EMI. To state it clearly, that is our warranty and not Apple’s, and batteries, physical damage and liquid damage are excluded.
On delivery, check the IMEI against the box and against Apple’s coverage page, confirm Face ID works, test both rear lenses at full zoom, and check the battery health screen yourself. Our verification guide and refurbished iPhone checklist cover the full sequence. Do all of it inside the 7-day window.
Frequently asked questions
Is the iPhone 15 Pro Max worth ₹7,000 more than the iPhone 15 Pro?
Only if you want the 5x tetraprism telephoto camera or the larger battery. At ₹79,990 against ₹72,990, the Pro Max adds longer optical zoom, more battery capacity and a 6.7-inch screen. The chip, titanium frame, 48MP main camera, Action Button, USB-C and 120Hz ProMotion display are identical. If you do not shoot distant subjects, buy the Pro and keep the ₹7,000.
What is the difference between the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max cameras?
The telephoto lens. The 15 Pro Max has a 5x tetraprism folded lens; the 15 Pro has a conventional 3x. The 48MP main camera and ultra-wide are the same on both. The 5x is better for distant subjects like stage events and wildlife, while the 3x is actually more useful for portraits of people indoors, where 5x forces you to stand too far away.
Should I buy a refurbished iPhone 15 Pro or a new mid-range phone at ₹73,000?
Buy new if a fresh battery and a full manufacturer warranty matter more to you than the camera system and build quality. Buy the refurbished iPhone 15 Pro if you want the A17 Pro chip, titanium build, 120Hz ProMotion and the Pro camera system, and you accept a stated battery health band with a 6-month NewAsNew Assured warranty instead of Apple coverage.
What battery health should a refurbished iPhone 15 Pro have?
At this price expect 88% or higher and ask for the measured figure on the exact unit before you pay. NewAsNew states a measured band on every listing rather than claiming a number, and never claims 100% on a used phone. Remember that percentage is relative to each model’s original capacity, so a Pro Max at 88% can still outlast a Pro at 92% in real hours.
Do refurbished iPhone 15 Pro units come with Apple warranty in India?
No. They come with a 6-month NewAsNew Assured warranty, a GST invoice in your name and a 7-day return window, and each unit passes our 50-point quality check. We do not claim Apple coverage on refurbished devices. Batteries, physical damage and liquid damage are excluded from the warranty, exactly as they are under standard brand warranties.
Is the iPhone 13 Pro Max a better buy than the iPhone 15 Pro?
For value, usually yes. At ₹49,490 the iPhone 13 Pro Max gives you a 6.7-inch 120Hz ProMotion display and a 3x telephoto for ₹23,500 less than the iPhone 15 Pro. The 15 Pro wins on chip speed, titanium build, USB-C and remaining years of iOS updates. Choose the 15 Pro only if those specific advantages matter to how you use a phone.
Can I get EMI on an iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max in India?
Yes, card EMI is available at checkout on most Indian debit and credit cards. The iPhone 15 Pro at ₹72,990 works out to roughly ₹12,200 per month over six months and the 15 Pro Max at ₹79,990 to roughly ₹13,300 per month, before bank interest. Message us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will confirm the options available on your card.
The honest bottom line
Between these two, buy the iPhone 15 Pro at ₹72,990. It is the same phone in a size most people can actually hold, and the ₹7,000 you save only buys a longer telephoto lens that most buyers will use a handful of times a year. Pay for the Pro Max only if you genuinely shoot distant subjects or need the extra battery for long days away from a charger.
And if reading the ₹49,490 iPhone 13 Pro Max line above made you pause, pause properly. At this end of the market the biggest saving available is usually the decision not to spend the money at all.
