Unboxed or Grade A — it’s the most common question from first-time buyers. The honest answer: both are excellent choices. The right one depends on your specific priorities. Here’s a clear framework to decide.
Start Here: What Matters Most to You?
Rank these from most to least important (be honest with yourself):
- Original brand warranty
- Maximum savings
- New-product experience (original box, all accessories)
- Overall value for money
- Peace of mind about condition
Choose UNBOXED If…
1. You want the brand warranty. Unboxed products come with the original manufacturer’s warranty still active. For Apple, Samsung, and other brands with good warranty service, this is significant. Grade A products do not have the original brand warranty.
2. You want everything in the original box. Some buyers care about the full retail experience — the original packaging, manuals, every accessory as shipped by the brand. Unboxed products deliver this. Grade A products typically come in our premium NewAsNew packaging without the original box.
3. The product is a gift. If you’re buying as a gift, the unboxed experience looks and feels brand-new. Presenting someone with what appears to be a new product — because it essentially is — often matters for gifting.
4. The savings difference is small. For some products, Unboxed and Grade A are only ₹3,000–5,000 apart. At that delta, Unboxed is often the obvious choice for the extra coverage and experience.
Choose GRADE A If…
1. Maximum savings is the priority. Grade A saves 30–60% vs new. Unboxed saves 15–30%. If budget is the primary driver, Grade A delivers more value per rupee.
2. You know what you’re getting. A Grade A MacBook Air M1 at ₹55,000 vs an Unboxed one at ₹68,000 — the device is functionally identical. If you’re comfortable with a certified pre-owned product, the ₹13,000 difference is real money.
3. The product doesn’t have brand warranty anyway. For older models, the brand warranty has already expired whether the product is Unboxed or used. In that case, you’re relying on NewAsNew Assured Warranty either way — so Grade A savings make obvious sense.
4. The extended warranty option matters to you. Extended warranty (7% for 6 months, 12% for 12 months) is only available for Grade A products. If you want long-term coverage beyond the standard 6 months, Grade A gives you that option.
The Simple Version
- Gift, original brand warranty matters, new-product feeling: → Unboxed
- Maximum savings, buying for yourself, comfortable with certified pre-owned: → Grade A
- Somewhere in between: → look at the specific price difference for the product you want
Both Come With
