Short answer: If you want a MacBook that will still be current in five years, buy the Unboxed MacBook Air M3 (2024) at ₹74,990 — 35% below its ₹1,14,990 MRP, sealed-new condition, box opened and nothing else. If ₹74,990 is out of reach, the Grade A MacBook Pro 16-inch A2141 at ₹41,990 gives you a 16-inch screen and 16GB of RAM for 79% off, but it is an Intel machine on an architecture Apple has abandoned. Choose deliberately.

What “Excellent” battery health means here: above 80% of original design capacity on a laptop, and above 85% on a smartphone. The thresholds differ because the two age differently — a laptop spends most of its life on mains power, a phone is cycled every day. Anything below that is not listed; there is no lower battery tier. The measured figure for your exact unit is printed on its product page.

MacBooks are one of the best candidates for buying certified pre-owned: Apple’s build quality means a three-year-old machine is often indistinguishable from a new one. But “refurbished MacBook” covers two completely different purchases, and picking the wrong one is expensive.

Which MacBooks can we actually ship today?

Two. That is the honest number, and we would rather show you an empty shelf than a fake one.

MacBook Grade Price MRP Off EMI from
MacBook Air 2024, 13.6-inch, M3, 8GB/256GB Unboxed ₹74,990 ₹1,14,990 35% ~₹6,249/mo
MacBook Pro 16-inch A2141, Intel Core i7, 16GB/512GB, Radeon Pro 5300M Grade A Certified ₹41,990 ₹1,99,900 79% ~₹3,499/mo

Two more 16-inch MacBook Pros — the Intel Core i9 with 32GB of RAM and the M1 Pro A2485 — are catalogued but out of stock today. If the M1 Pro is what you want, it is worth waiting for, and we will tell you on WhatsApp when one lands rather than selling you a substitute.

What do New, Unboxed and Grade A actually mean?

New Unboxed Grade A Certified
Physical condition Factory sealed Indistinguishable from new Restored; any marks photographed
Why it is cheaper — The seal was broken It has been used
Battery Full Effectively full Measured and disclosed per unit
Accessories All included All included Charger included
Cover Full Apple warranty 6-month NewAsNew Assured, plus whatever Apple cover the serial still shows 6-month NewAsNew Assured
Real example today Air M3 at ₹1,14,990 Air M3 at ₹74,990 Pro 16-inch A2141 at ₹41,990

The distinction matters more on a MacBook than on anything else we sell, because Apple’s warranty is tied to the serial number rather than the buyer. Our Unboxed vs Grade A decision framework and this grade explainer cover the choice in general terms.

The case for the Unboxed MacBook Air M3 at ₹74,990

Unboxed Apple MacBook Air 2024 13.6-inch M3 chip 8GB RAM 256GB SSD at ₹74,990, 35% off its ₹1,14,990 MRP, in stock at NewAsNew
MacBook Air M3 (2024), Unboxed — ₹74,990, 35% off MRP.

This is the one I recommend to most people who have the budget. You get a brand-new MacBook experience — original box, all accessories, a machine nobody has meaningfully used — for ₹40,000 less than MRP. The only reason it costs less is that the seal was broken.

Apple MacBook Air 2024, 13.6-inch, M3, 8GB/256GB (Unboxed) — ₹74,990 (MRP ₹1,14,990, 35% off), roughly ₹6,249 a month on a 12-month EMI.

The M3 is fanless, so it is completely silent, and Apple Silicon is efficient enough that all-day battery is genuinely all-day. More importantly, it is on the architecture Apple is actually building for, so the question of how many more macOS versions you will get does not come up for years.

The honest caveat: 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, both soldered to the board. You cannot add RAM or swap the SSD later, ever. 8GB is fine for browsing, Office, study, writing and light photo work. If you run virtual machines, large Xcode projects or heavy Lightroom catalogues, it will frustrate you and no upgrade path exists. Read how much RAM you actually need in 2026 and 256GB vs 512GB vs 1TB first, because here the decision is permanent.

The case — and the warning — for the Intel MacBook Pro at ₹41,990

Grade A Certified Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch A2141 Intel Core i7 16GB RAM 512GB SSD Radeon Pro 5300M at ₹41,990, 79% off its ₹1,99,900 MRP
MacBook Pro 16-inch A2141, Intel Core i7 — ₹41,990, 79% off MRP.

Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch A2141, Intel Core i7 6-core, 16GB/512GB, Radeon Pro 5300M (Grade A Certified) — ₹41,990 (MRP ₹1,99,900, 79% off), roughly ₹3,499 a month on a 12-month EMI.

What you get for ₹41,990 is real: a 16-inch Retina display, 16GB of RAM instead of 8GB, a 512GB SSD instead of 256GB, dedicated AMD graphics and a six-core i7. On spec-per-rupee, nothing else on our shelf comes close.

Now the part most sellers skip. This is an Intel Mac, and Apple finished moving the Mac to its own silicon years ago. Price that in:

  • macOS support is finite and shrinking. Apple drops Intel Macs from new macOS releases well before Apple Silicon ones. Treat this as a machine with a limited number of major OS upgrades left.
  • New Mac software increasingly targets Apple Silicon only. That gap widens every year.
  • It runs hot and the fans are audible. An i7 with a Radeon Pro 5300M in a thin chassis gets warm under load. After a silent M-series machine it is a shock.
  • Battery life is Intel-era, not M-era. Expect a working day of light use, not the fifteen-plus hours an M3 Air delivers.

None of that makes it a bad buy. It makes it a specific buy: excellent if you want a big screen and 16GB now for under ₹42,000 and accept replacing the machine in a few years. Poor if you expect it to still be your main computer in 2032. Weighing it against Windows? Our MacBook Pro vs Windows business laptop at ₹40,000 is the direct head-to-head.

What should you check when buying any MacBook?

  • Battery cycle count. Apple menu → About This Mac → System Report → Power. Apple rates modern MacBook batteries for 1,000 cycles, so under 200 is excellent and under 400 is comfortable. Ask for the number, not “battery is good”.
  • Activation Lock and Find My. Apple has retired its public Activation Lock checker, so verify on the device: complete setup — it must never ask for someone else’s Apple ID — then confirm Find My is off and you can sign in yourself.
  • Coverage status. Enter the serial at checkcoverage.apple.com. This shows what Apple warranty or AppleCare remains — the main reason Unboxed can be worth the premium over Grade A.
  • Display. Full white and full black screens in good light. No dead pixels, no uneven backlight, no retained image.
  • Every port with a real cable. Thunderbolt and USB-C ports fail individually. Test each with something that draws power and moves data.
  • Keyboard, trackpad and serial. Every key individually; on the A2141 check the Touch Bar strip. The serial in About This Mac must match the chassis and the invoice.

Every MacBook we list has already been through this as part of our 50-point quality check. Only 2 to 3 out of every 10 devices that reach our bench pass; the other 7 to 8 go back to the supplier. The exact figure moves month to month with the stock we are offered, so we publish the range rather than one flattering number.

Who should NOT buy a refurbished MacBook

  • Anyone who needs 16GB of RAM on Apple Silicon. We cannot supply it today — the M3 Air in stock is 8GB and soldered. Buy new rather than buy 8GB and regret it, because this is not fixable later.
  • Anyone who expects the Intel Pro to last a decade. If you want one machine for the next eight to ten years, the ₹41,990 A2141 is the wrong purchase at any discount. Save for Apple Silicon.
  • Anyone who only needs Office, Chrome and Zoom. An HP EliteBook 840 G8 at ₹34,990 does that work for less than half the Air’s price — see our business-laptop comparison.
  • Anyone who needs Apple warranty service from day one. Grade A units carry our 6-month warranty, not Apple’s. If that is non-negotiable, buy new or buy Unboxed and check what the serial still shows.
  • Anyone who cannot accept any cosmetic mark. Grade A means restored and fully working, with marks photographed and disclosed. Unboxed is the grade for you instead.

Our take

If the budget is there, buy the Unboxed MacBook Air M3 at ₹74,990. It is the only MacBook we sell that is safe to treat as a long-term machine, and 35% off a sealed-condition current-generation Air is a genuinely good price in India.

If it is not, the Intel MacBook Pro 16-inch at ₹41,990 is honest value for a specific buyer: someone who wants a big screen and 16GB of RAM now and accepts a shorter runway. If neither fits, a Windows business laptop beats stretching for a MacBook you cannot comfortably afford — our three-year cost analysis shows why.

Frequently asked questions

Should I buy a MacBook new, Unboxed or Grade A?

Unboxed for near-new condition with the discount — the MacBook Air M3 at ₹74,990 is 35% below its ₹1,14,990 MRP and effectively unused. Grade A for maximum specification per rupee on a used machine, like the 16-inch MacBook Pro A2141 at ₹41,990. Buy new only if you need a configuration we do not stock, such as an Apple Silicon Mac with 16GB of RAM.

Is a refurbished MacBook worth it in India?

Yes, when it is graded honestly and warrantied. The two in stock are 35% and 79% below MRP, both with a written 6-month warranty, a GST invoice, 7-day returns and EMI. The trap is buying an Intel MacBook without understanding that Apple has moved on from Intel.

Which MacBook is the best value right now?

On price per specification, the MacBook Pro 16-inch A2141 at ₹41,990 — 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, dedicated graphics and a 16-inch screen for 79% off ₹1,99,900. On value over the life of the machine, the MacBook Air M3 at ₹74,990, because it is on the architecture Apple is still building for.

Can I upgrade the RAM or storage in a MacBook later?

No. On every modern MacBook, RAM and storage are soldered to the logic board and cannot be changed after purchase. If you think you will need 16GB, buy 16GB now.

How do I check a used MacBook is not iCloud locked?

Complete setup on the device in front of you. It must never ask for a previous owner’s Apple ID, Find My must be off, and you must be able to sign in with your own Apple Account. Apple has retired its public Activation Lock checker, so a serial lookup alone is not enough — checkcoverage.apple.com shows warranty status, not lock status.

What battery cycle count is acceptable on a used MacBook?

Apple rates modern MacBook batteries for 1,000 cycles. Under 200 is excellent, under 400 comfortable, above 700 means budgeting for a replacement. Ask for the figure from System Report → Power rather than accepting a description.

Do you have a MacBook Air M1 or M2?

Not today. Our MacBook shelf is the Air M3 at ₹74,990 and the Intel Pro 16-inch at ₹41,990. Two more 16-inch Pros — an Intel i9 and an M1 Pro — are catalogued but out of stock. Message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you when one actually lands rather than selling you a substitute.

Does a refurbished MacBook come with a GST invoice and EMI?

Yes — a GST invoice in your name, a written 6-month NewAsNew Assured Warranty, 7-day returns and no-cost or low-cost EMI, roughly ₹6,249 a month on the Air M3 and ₹3,499 on the Intel Pro over 12 months. See how the GST invoice works and which cards qualify.
