Short answer: Apple holds its Surprise and Shine event on 9 September 2026, 10am Pacific, which is 10:30pm IST the same night. Three phones are widely expected: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s first foldable. The standard iPhone 18 is reported to be moving to spring 2027. Nothing below is confirmed by Apple. If your budget is realistic, the practical Indian move is a Grade A Certified iPhone 15 at Rs 47,490 or iPhone 14 at Rs 34,990, both in stock today.
Read this line first. This post was written on 8 September 2026, one day before the event. Every specification and price below comes from leaks and supply-chain reports published by the technology press, not from Apple. Some of it will turn out wrong. We are labelling it clearly rather than presenting rumour as fact, because that is the whole point of this shop. We will publish a corrected version after the keynote.
When is the Apple event in India?
Apple has confirmed 9 September 2026, starting 10:00am Pacific Time. In India that is 10:30pm IST on Tuesday 9 September. It streams free on apple.com and Apple’s YouTube channel. It is also the first keynote under John Ternus, who is reported to have taken over as chief executive from Tim Cook on 1 September 2026.
What is expected to launch?
| Device | Status | What is reported |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 18 Pro | Widely expected | 6.3-inch LTPO OLED, 120Hz, A20 Pro chip |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max | Widely expected | Larger display, same chip, biggest battery |
| Foldable iPhone (name unconfirmed, iPhone Ultra rumoured) | Widely expected | Apple’s first folding phone |
| Standard iPhone 18 | Reported as delayed | Moving to a spring 2027 launch |
| iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 | Reported as delayed | Also spring 2027 |
The split release schedule is the genuinely new thing here. If it holds, Apple is moving from one launch a year to two, with Pro models in autumn and standard models in spring. For Indian buyers that changes the rhythm of when discounts appear on older models.
iPhone 18 Pro: what the leaks claim
| Specification | Reported expectation |
|---|---|
| Chip | A20 Pro, built on a 2nm process. Around 18% faster and 30% more efficient than A19 Pro |
| Modem | Apple’s own C2, with satellite-capable 5G |
| Display | 6.3-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED, 120Hz |
| RAM | 12GB standard |
| Storage | Up to 2TB |
| Rear cameras | 48MP triple system, variable aperture main lens, wider-aperture telephoto |
| Face ID | Under-display Face ID rumoured for the Pro models |
The variable aperture is the one worth watching if you care about photos. Every iPhone until now has had a fixed aperture, with depth of field simulated in software. A physically variable aperture would be a real optical change, not a computational one.
What will it cost in India?
Reported estimates vary widely, which itself tells you how little is confirmed. Figures circulating before the event put the iPhone 18 Pro somewhere between Rs 1,34,900 and roughly Rs 1.4 lakh, with the Pro Max at Rs 1.55 lakh or above. Several reports link a possible increase to the cost of the 2nm chip and to 2026 memory prices, which have risen sharply across the whole industry.
Treat all of that as a range, not a number. Apple sets Indian pricing on the day, and rupee movement and duty structure both feed into it.
What this launch actually means if you are buying an iPhone in India
Here is the part that affects most people reading this, and we will be blunt about it.
Very few people in India are buying a Rs 1.4 lakh phone. What a flagship launch reliably does is move attention and pricing on the previous generations. Historically, in the weeks after an Apple launch, resale and refurbished pricing on the two prior generations softens as upgraders sell, and supply of good condition units improves.
That is genuinely a good moment to buy a refurbished iPhone. It is also the moment when a lot of unchecked, ungraded stock floods the market from people clearing handsets quickly. Both things are true at once.

Who should NOT wait for the iPhone 18 Pro
- Anyone whose budget is under Rs 80,000. The iPhone 18 Pro will not be in your range. Waiting three weeks to find that out costs you three weeks.
- Anyone whose current phone is failing now. A dying battery or a broken screen is a today problem.
- Anyone who mainly wants better photos on a budget. The jump from an iPhone 12 to a refurbished iPhone 14 or 15 is larger, for you, than the jump from an iPhone 17 Pro to an 18 Pro.
Do wait if you were always going to buy a current flagship. In that case, waiting one day to see the actual keynote is obviously correct.

Frequently asked questions
What time is the Apple event on 9 September 2026 in India?
10:30pm IST, Tuesday 9 September 2026. That is 10:00am Pacific Time. It streams on apple.com and on Apple’s YouTube channel at no cost.
Is the standard iPhone 18 launching in September 2026?
Reports say no. Apple is understood to be splitting its schedule, with the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 moving to spring 2027 and only Pro models plus the foldable arriving this September. Apple has not confirmed this.
Will iPhone 15 and 16 prices drop after the iPhone 18 Pro launch in India?
Historically, previous-generation pricing softens in the weeks after a launch as upgraders sell their handsets and supply improves. How much and how fast varies by model and by year. We publish live prices rather than predictions.
How much will the iPhone 18 Pro cost in India?
Nothing is confirmed. Pre-event reports put the Pro somewhere from about Rs 1,34,900 to Rs 1.4 lakh and the Pro Max above Rs 1.55 lakh. Apple announces Indian pricing at the event.
Is the foldable iPhone coming to India?
If it is announced, India is normally in Apple’s first or second wave for flagship launches, but availability and price are announced by Apple, not leaked reliably. Expect it to sit well above the Pro Max in price.
Is it a good time to buy a refurbished iPhone right now?
The weeks after a launch are usually a good buying window, with one caveat: a lot of unchecked stock enters the market at the same time. Whoever you buy from, ask for the battery health percentage as a number, a written warranty and a GST invoice before you pay.
Will iOS updates stop for older iPhones after this launch?
Apple typically supports iPhones with major iOS updates for around five to seven years from release. An iPhone 13 or 14 bought today has several years of updates remaining. We publish the current support position on each product page rather than guessing at future cut-offs.
