Short answer: The 2026 festive calendar is roughly three weeks later than usual — Navratri in mid-October, Dussehra on 20 October, Diwali on 8 November — which leaves an unusually long gap after the September platform sales. For laptops specifically, that gap matters less than you think, because business-series machines barely move in consumer sales. With memory and storage prices up sharply this year, waiting is unlikely to help. The honest picks start at Rs 22,490 for a Dell Latitude 5400 Core i7 and Rs 32,990 for an HP EliteBook 840 G8.

The 2026 festive calendar

Event Date What it means for buying
Big Billion Days / Great Indian Festival Expected late September (unconfirmed) The deepest platform discounts of the year
Navratri Mid-October Traditional auspicious buying period begins
Dussehra 20 October Peak gifting and new-purchase day
Diwali 8 November The main festival; bank offers concentrate here

The Hindu calendar this year includes an extra month, which pushes the whole season later. The consequence for shoppers is a six-week gap between the platform sales and Diwali — more time to compare, and less pressure to decide in a countdown.

The thing that changed this year: component prices

2026 has been an unusual year for laptop pricing, and it runs against the festive-discount narrative. Industry trackers reported DDR5 memory up roughly 110% and NAND flash up 85-90% in the first quarter, as AI data centres absorbed manufacturing capacity. Reports through the year had major PC makers raising consumer pricing in response.

Two practical consequences:

  1. Watch for quiet specification cuts. A model that held its price but moved from 16GB to 8GB, or 512GB to 256GB, has gone up in price. Compare specifications line by line against last year equivalent, not price tags.
  2. Refurbished widened its advantage. A used business laptop already contains its RAM and SSD, bought years ago at pre-spike prices. That is a structural difference, not a marketing line.

What to buy, by budget

Rs 22,000-25,000 Dell Latitude 7490 Core i5 8th Gen Rs 22,490 In stock
Rs 25,000-35,000 HP EliteBook 840 G8 Core i5 11th Gen Rs 32,990 In stock
Rs 25,000-35,000 HP EliteBook 830 G8 Core i5 10th Gen Rs 32,990 In stock
Rs 35,000-40,000 Dell Latitude 5320 2-in-1 Touch i5 11th Gen Rs 38,990 In stock
Rs 35,000-40,000 Dell Latitude 5421 Core i7 11th Gen H-Series Rs 39,990 In stock
Rs 40,000-50,000 Dell Precision 5550 Core i7 10th Gen Rs 48,490 In stock
Rs 40,000-50,000 Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch Core i7 Rs 41,990 In stock
Rs 70,000+ Apple MacBook Air M3 (Unboxed) Rs 74,990 In stock

One thing worth pointing out because it looks like an error and is not: the Latitude 5400 with a Core i7 is Rs 22,490 while the same chassis with a Core i5 is Rs 22,990. Refurbished pricing follows unit cost and condition, not the badge on the sticker.

By who you are

  • Student, documents and classes. Dell Latitude 7490 at Rs 22,490. Light, thin, 8th Gen i5, enough for everything a course needs.
  • Work from home, Excel, Teams, many tabs. HP EliteBook 840 G8 at Rs 32,990. 11th Gen i5 with Iris Xe graphics and a good 14-inch screen.
  • CA or accounting practice. Dell Latitude 5490 at Rs 23,490 or the EliteBook 830 G8 at Rs 32,990 if you want a compact 13-inch machine.
  • Freelancer or designer. Dell Latitude 5421 Core i7 H-series at Rs 39,990 for sustained load, or the Precision 5550 at Rs 48,490 if you edit.
  • Touch and pen work. Dell Latitude 5320 2-in-1 at Rs 38,990.
  • Gifting to a student. The Rs 22,490 Latitudes, with the money saved put towards a bag and a mouse.

Who should NOT buy a laptop this festive season

  • Anyone whose current laptop works fine. The most expensive purchase of any Indian festive season is the one the sale created rather than satisfied.
  • Anyone stretching onto long EMI for a machine above their need. A Rs 22,490 Latitude does everything a student needs. A Rs 60,000 machine on 18-month EMI does not do it better.
  • Anyone who needs a current gaming GPU. No refurbished business laptop at these prices replaces it. Buy new.
  • Anyone whose workplace requires three-year on-site support. Our warranty is 6 months plus any remaining brand warranty on Unboxed units.
  • Anyone who could fix their existing machine with one part. Buy the part. We would rather tell you that.

Frequently asked questions

When is Diwali 2026?

Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) falls on Sunday 8 November 2026, with the five-day festival running roughly 6-10 November. Dussehra is on 20 October and Navratri falls in mid-October. The season is about three weeks later than usual this year.

Do laptop prices drop during Indian festive sales?

Consumer laptops see real reductions. Business-series laptops, which most refurbished stock consists of, move very little because they are not consumer sale products. In 2026 memory and storage shortages pushed new laptop pricing up rather than down.

Should I wait until Diwali to buy a laptop?

If you need it for work or study now, no. The platform sales in late September are typically the deeper discount window for consumer models, and business laptops barely move at either point.

What is the best refurbished laptop under Rs 25,000 for the festive season?

The Dell Latitude 5400 Core i7 8th Gen at Rs 22,490 for performance, or the Latitude 7490 Core i5 at the same price if you want something lighter to carry.

Do you offer festive discounts?

No. Prices are set by unit cost and condition and are live on every product page year-round. We do not raise prices before a season in order to discount them during it.

Is EMI available on refurbished laptops?

Yes, no-cost and low-cost EMI through Razorpay on cards, along with UPI and netbanking for full payment. Bajaj Finserv EMI is not supported. Every order includes a GST invoice.
